Liz Phair is a Indie Pop singer and songwriter whose Low-fi sound, confessional lyrics and confident sexuality help make her a darling of the early 1990s Alternative Rock scene. After signing to Matador Records in 1992, she burst onto the scene with her 1993 debut album Exile in Guyville. The album was universally hailed and made Phair a critical and commercial success. After the success of Guyville, Phair released two modestly received follow up albums before taking a hiatus from music in 1998. Phair attempted a comeback in 2003 after signing to Columbia Records and releasing her self-titled fourth album. With a more pop-oriented sound, the album was panned by critics who accused Phair of "Selling Out."
