NASA announced the final flight of the space shuttle program would take place in 2010, four months ahead of the retirement schedule.

- Ten final missions planned between July 2008 and May 2010
- Shuttle fleet is 27 years old
- Final flight will carry spare parts for the International Space Station
- Three shuttles remain in service: Discovery, Atlantis and Endeavour
- Total lifetime missions: Endeavour 25, Atlantis 32 and Discovery 38
