About Jailbreaking
Most hacks for the iPhone require jailbreaking the phone. The process requires using software or a website to circumvent Apple's security protocols. Because of this, a jailbroken iPhone is not eligible for support or warranty replacement. Installing a firmware update to a hacked iPhone can result in a bricked phone with reduced (or no) functionality.TUAW: Man to Sue over iBricking (October 8, 2007) In some cases, unbricking the iPhone is possible. -
