Life and Career
Ian Holm was born in Essex.]. His father was a psychiatrist and his mother was a nurse. He attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.Prior to making a name for himself on screen, he had established himself as a strong stage actor and was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Holm then began to appear in a number of TV shows and series and gained notice from international audiences for his big screen performance in Ridley Scott's Alien (1979).
Since then he has appeared in many films but made his next big leap into stardom for his role as Bilbo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings Film Series.
