• Hugh Laurie is a British actor and musician. Although he is known to American audiences as the acerbic and misanthropic genius doctor Gregory House on the FOX series House M.D., Laurie has been known in the United Kingdom for decades of playing much more benign characters. In the '80s he starred alongside Rowan Atkinson in two series of Blackadder (plus a brief appearance in series two) playing hopelessly unintelligent characters that contrasted Atkinson's selfish and greedy lead role. Laurie also starred in two series with Stephen Fry: Jeeves and Wooster and A Bit of Fry and Laurie.

• Laurie as House

  Aside from British TV enthusiasts and the occasional appearance in films such as Stuart Little, Laurie was generally unknown in the United States until he put on his American accent (not to mention a scowl) for House's medical mystery series. The role has landed him two Emmy nominations and two Golden Globe wins.

• Charity

  Laurie plays keyboard and sings in Band From TV, a group of celebrity musicians who regularly perform to raise money for charity. Other band members include Laurie's House co-worker Jesse Spencer, Greg Gunberg from Heroes, and Teri Hatcher and James Denton of Desperate Housewives fame.
