Canadian indie rockers Hot Hot Heat were one of the first bands to popularize the energetic synth-based pop/punk blend that's often been referred to as "New New Wave." Since forming in 1999, the group has released a handful of well-received full-length albums and EPs, including their first major-label release, Make Up the Breakdown, which featured the breakout 2002 hit "Bandages." Allmusic.com described Breakdown as "an addictive, densely packed pop gem that ranks among 2002's best albums."
