Hank Gathers was a college basketball player at Loyola Marymount University who led the NCAA Division I in scoring and rebounding during the 1988-89 season averaging 32.7 points and 13.7 rebounds per game. On March 4, 1990 Gathers collapsed on the court during a game against Portland. He was pronounced dead on arrival when he was brought to the hospital.
