Guinea-Bissau is one of the smallest countries in Africa. Bordered by Senegal to the North and Guinea to the southeast, the country is located in western Africa and borders the Atlantic Ocean.
On March 3, 2009, parliament speaker Raimundo Pereira was sworn in as interim president, and will be required to call for new elections in two months. History and Politics
After falling under colonial rule in the 17th century, it became independent from Portugal on September 10, 1974. As a country, Guinea-Bissau is divided up into eight regions, which are in turn divided up into thirty-seven sectors.
