Wal-Mart was one of multiple retail outlets to participate in the midnight launch for the hugely popular action video game Grand Theft Auto IV. Only 24-hour Wal-Marts took part in the event. Other Wal-Mart stores sold the game upon opening April 29, 2008. On April 22, 2008, a GTA IV launch guide was sent to Wal-Mart stores addressing the importance of the launch and how to handle a launch for optimum success. The guide also considers Wal-Mart the surest way to secure a copy of the game quickly.

GTA IV Info
Grand Theft Auto IV is the ninth title in the long-running Grand Theft Auto series. Its redesigned Liberty City is based on four of the boroughs of New York City and parts of New Jersey. While the total map area is smaller than that of San Andreas, the newly designed Liberty City is far more detailed and the largest individual city in the Grand Theft Auto series. The game follows Niko Bellic, an Eastern European immigrant who immigrates to Liberty City to live "the American Dream" at the urging of his cousin Roman. -
