During the March 25, 2008 episode of American Idol, contestant Jason Castro performed Sting's signature song, "Fragile." Castro accompanied himself on an acoustic guitar.
The performance was preceded by a video segment in which Castro revealed that it was his birthday. He also talked about playing music with his brother as a little kid.

Judges' Comments
- Randy: Loved the song and the Spanish touches, but didn't think the vocal performance stood out.
- Paula: Thought Castro stayed true to himself but played it safe.
- Simon: Simon felt Castro's performance was the "equivalent of someone busking outside a subway station." He said that Castro wasn't living up to his potential or taking the competition seriously. Castro agreed that his guitar playing was a little "sloppy".

- Aw, it's Jason's actual birthday. That should save him, as if he needed the help at this stage. He sings Sting's Fragile, with his guitar. Mellow as usual, but a little bit left-field. It's no Hallelujah, but give him credit for an imaginative choice and good execution. The Spanish seems a bit more effective than his French ventures in Michelle. A Jack Johnson-like career probably awaits. Randy likes the choice, less so the performance. Paula says we didn't see anything different, but says it was true to who he is, having it both ways. Simon thinks it's his second bad week in a row, and compares it to a busker outside a subway station. Too laid-back for him.
