Florida has been a battleground state in the last elections. In 2000, the presidential election was too close to call after Election Day, and the electoral votes of Florida was needed for either George W. Bush or Al Gore to win. The election result in Florida was also to close to call and a recounting of votes was required. The process took over a month and there were several allegations of voter fraud. In the end, Bush won Florida's electoral votes and the election, but not the popular vote.
