  On March 16, 1959 Flavor Flav was born "William Jonathan Drayton, Jr." New York City. Flavor Flav loved music fron an early age, and grew up playing the piano and trombone. In 1982 he joined up with Chuck D, Professor Griff, DJ Lord, and The S1W to for the rap group Public Enemy. The group was known for its politically charged material, and criticism of the media. The group ranks among Rolling Stone Magazine's 100 greatest artists of all time. After a musical hiatus, Flavor Flav participated in the Vh1 reality show The Surreal Life, where he met future girlfriend Brigette Nielsen. Flav and Nielsen did their own reality show called Strange Love, which chronicled their relationship. Following his relationship with Nielsen he did Flavor of Love, a reality show in which women compete for Flavs approval.
