• Career

  After working as a graphic designer and art director, Eric Carle got noticed by author Bill Martin Jr., who then worked with Carle on the successful book, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?

  Carle eventually wrote and illustrated his own work, including 1969's The Very Hungry Caterpillar, which has become his most popular book.

  All of Carle's books feature colorful collage artwork, which has become his trademark. All the characters in his stories are animals due to his love of nature.

  Semi-retired from "the business end" of work, Carle continues to create books, and sporadically makes appearances for them as well.
