The DataPortability Workgroup is an organization that hopes to improve the flow of data and images between web sites like Facebook and LinkedIn. Founded in November 2007 by Chris Saad and a workgroup of technology experts. Since its inception such companies as Google, Microsoft and Facebook have officially joined the project. The overall goal of the project is to create open standard and protocols between major social websites.

Logo Controversy
On February 21st, 2008 Linux software manufacture Red Hat issued a cease and desist notice against the DataPortability Workgroup. The notice claimed a copyright infringement against their existing Fedora logo which also used the infinity symbol. To solve the issue the group held a logo competition and a selected a new logo from the entries. -
