    Chris Ray Wilcox was born in Raleigh, North Carolina. He attended Enloe High School, then continued his education at the University of Maryland. Wilcox played two seasons of college basketball for the Maryland Terrapins, averaging 7.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.01 blocks. He helped the Terrapins win the NCAA Mens Basketball Tournament in 2002, recording 10 points and seven rebounds in the championship game.
