NHL Career
Phillips was drafted first overall by the Ottawa Senators during the first round of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft. After one more year playing junior hockey, during which he was voted the Western Hockey League's top defenseman, Phillips joined the Senators as a full time member of the lineup for the 1997-1998 season. He has played an integral role in the Senator's defense ever since and is a contributing factor in the Senators making it to the playoffs each year since Phillips joined the team. -
