    On January 25, 2009 Carey Price participated in the NHL All-Star Game as he was voted in starting goalie for the Eastern team by the fans. Price barely made the event because he was injured prior to the event.

  • Early Career

    Price was drafted fifth overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 2005 and began his professional career in the American Hockey League playing for the Hamilton Bulldogs for the 2006-2007 season. He led his team to win the Calder Cup and during the first game of the tournament, stopping all 46 shots. He was voted the playoff MVP to become, at age 19, the youngest player to ever receive the Jack A. Butterfield trophy. The same year, he played for Canada in the International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championships, where he was named the tournament's top goaltender and tournament MVP after Canada took the gold medal.
  • NHL Rookie Season

    Price joined the Montreal Canadiens as their backup goalie for the 2007-2008 season. He played his first NHL game on October 7, 2007, and let in only two of 28 shots to earn his team the win. He won the Canadiens' Molson Cup for the month of October 2007 for being the player with the most first-star selections.

    Shortly before the NHL trade deadline in February of 2008, the Canadiens traded their starting goaltender Cristobal Huet, placing Price in the starting role. The Canadiens went on to place first in the Eastern Conference and Price finished the regular season as the top rookie goaltender in wins, shutouts and save percentage. During the first round of the 2008 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Price became the first rookie goaltender to record a playoff shutout since 1986.
