• James Kirk is a fictional character from the Star Trek science fiction franchise. He was captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise during its original five-year exploratory mission and subsequent assignments. Kirk was portrayed by William Shatner in the original Trek TV series and Chris Pine in the 2009 film adaptation from J.J. Abrams.

• Notable Accomplishments

  Kirk was the youngest captain in Starfleet history when he took command of the Enterprise at the age of 34, and was promoted to Admiral of fleet operations at the conclusion of that five year mission. Kirk was instrumental in the negotiated peace between the United Federation of Planets and the Klingon Empire. He is the most-decorated member of Starfleet, a distinction somewhat balanced by the numerous demerits and sanctions he received, including a record -- never broken -- for the most temporal violations.
