• 21 year-old student Brittany Sue Zimmermann, was found dead on April 2, 2008 at her home on West Doty Street in Madison, Wisconsin. Police ruled her death suspicious and are asking anyone with information about Zimmermann to step forward.

Police say they have no reason to believe that the stabbing of 31-year old Joel Marino in his downtown Madison home in January 2008, or the abduction and murder of University of Wisconsin-Whitewater student Kelly Nolan in June 2007 are related to Zimmerman's death. Police were however investigating earlier reports of a man trying to sneak into nearby houses.

Zimmermann was engaged to be married and an undergraduate pre-med student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her fiance has been excluded as a suspect.

    1. Coroner said Zimmermann did not die a "natural house death"
    2. Police told nearby residents to exercise caution
    3. Zimmermann lived only five blocks from the State Capitol Building
    4. Graduated from Marshfield High School in Marshfield, Wisconsin, in 2005
    5. Was majoring in medical microbiology and immunology
    6. Worked in the campus registrar's office
    7. Engaged to Jordan Gonnering who the police have ruled out as a suspect
    8. Both Gonnering and Zimmermann lived at West Doty Street address
    9. Family told that Brittany had "chest trauma"
    10. Police Chief Susan Riseling called killing "a seemingly senseless act"
    11. Authorities said that anyone with information about the killing should contact Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014.
