• Before becoming an outspoken blogger, Australian Brian Gorrell accused his former boyfriend, DJ Montano, of swindling him of $70,000. Gorrell alleged that he sent Montano money as a silent investor for a Manila restaurant called Bonza, only to later discover that such a restaurant never existed, and his money was used by Montano for personal use.

Publicity and Smear Campaign: As a means to get his money back, Gorrell started his blog on March 4, 2008. Within weeks, it attracted thousands of pageviews and the attention of the Manila government. He was later interviewed by Magic 89.9, a popular Filipino radio station. The popularity of his blog and subsequent media attention is due to his exposure of a group of high society youths whom he referred to as the "Gucci Gang." This Gang included Montano and socialite Celine Lopez.

Despite requests from Montano's and Lopez's lawyers to shut the blog down, Gorrell has written that he will continue to update it until he gets his money back. The blog has raised questions over freedom of speech in blogging and media responsibility.

Montano's Reaction: In Philippine Daily Inquirer articles on April 12-13, Montano stated that the blog was "extortion" and that he will take Gorrell to court to "vindicate" his name. He also claimed that Gorell had been caught lying claiming that Montano had stolen his passport which was later found at his residence. Montano also stated that Gorell exaggerated rumors, defaming his family and friends. He insists he will not pay.
