In March 2009, Bono called Coldplay's Chris Martin a "wanker" and "cretin" during a radio interview with the BBC's Radio 1. The show's host, Jo Whiley, immediately demanded Bono apologize for his comments. He reportedly told Whiley, "I'm a reformed character, I don't do that any more".
