• A variation of the Rick Roll, a "Barack Roll" is a music video of Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" featuring clips of Barack Obama edited to look like the presidential candidate is dancing to the song.

Excerpts of Obama's speeches are also used to simulate the candidate singing the lyrics to Astley's song.

The Barack Obama advocacy site BarackRoll.com allows users to send e-mails to friends, especially Republicans, with links that will mislead the clicker to visiting the Obama-supportive site. The site's stated purpose is to "Rickroll 'em over to Barack Obama's camp." The term "Rickroll" suggests tricking others into visiting a site they did not intend to visit, a trend that began with the action of sending unsuspecting web-surfers to the original music video of Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up."
