The California Born actress first gained critical and national attention for her starring role in the HBO film Gia which chronicled the rise and fall of supermodel Gia Marie Carangi.

She followed that success with several high profile roles in films such as The Bone Collector starring Denzel Washington and Pushing Tin starring ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton.

In 1999, she received the Academy Award for best supporting actress for her work in the film Girl, Interrupted. The award proved to solidify her status as one of Hollywood's most bankable and popular leading ladies.

She has starred in several Box Office hits such as Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, co-starring her father Jon Voight and Gone in Sixty Seconds with Nicolas Cage.
