Life and Career
Andy Garcia was born in Cuba to a mother who was an English teacher and a father who was an avocado farmer. Their family moved to Miami, Florida when Garcia was five.He began acting while at college in Florida International University but left in order to pursue a career in Hollywood. After doing work in minor supporting roles, Garcia gained attention from director Brian de Palma for his performance in the 1986 movie 8 Million Ways to Die. De Palma subsequently cast Garcia in The Untouchables, which earned him a good amount of attention in Hollywood.
His big break came when he was cast as Vincent Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola's The God Father Part III. Garcia received an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actor for his role and went on to receive recognition from audiences all over the world.
Most recently he has appeared in the Ocean's Eleven Films, which have been hugely successful at the box office. In 2009 he appeared in The Pink Panther 2 and New York, I Love You.
