• Career Highlights

  Prior to his NHL career, Lilja played several seasons with the Malmo IF of the Elitserien, or Swedish Elite League, starting in 1994. He was drafted 54th overall in the 2000 NHL Draft by the Los Angeles Kings. He spent the majority of the 2000-01 season with the Lowell Lock Monsters, a Kings[American Hockey League affiliate, playing in just two regular season NHL games that year. He was then traded to the Florida Panthers on November 26, 2002 where he played 136 games over two seasons. Lilja returned to Sweden during the 2004-05 NHL Lockout before signing with the Detroit Red Wings on August 24, 2005. Lilja earned a full roster spot with the Wings the following season. He also represented Sweden in the 2006 Winter Olympics, winning the gold medal.
