Career
Alanis Morissette shot to fame in 1995 with her debut album Jagged Little Pill. Before the album was released, she had moderate success in her home country of Canada with her dance-pop releases, but it wasn't until she moved to the United States and met producer Glen Ballard that her career really took off. The music that they co-wrote for Jagged Little Pill was a departure from her original, sunnier sound; it was far more angst-ridden and brutally honest. That honesty caught on, however, when the success of the album snowballed into 30 million album sales worldwide, spurred by the popularity of such singles as "Ironic," "You Oughta Know" and "You Learn." Morissette's success continued with her subsequent releases, as she became one of the best selling female artists in history.-
