Career
Before recording with the likes of Dave Matthews and Warren Haynes, Mahlasela had already established himself as an influential solo artist in the anti-apartheid movement.His 2003 compilation, The Voice, featured the hit track "Weeping," which Mahlasela recorded with Josh Groban and Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Four years later, he released the critically acclaimed Guiding Star. Allmusic praised the album as "Mahlasela's finest effort."
In 2008, he spoke and performed at the TED Conference.
