Vakeaton Quamar Wafer was born in Homer, Louisiana, on July 21, 1985. He attended high school at Heritage Christian Academy in Texas. He continued his education at Florida State University. Wafer began his first season with the Lakers, but was later waived. In 2007, he signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Clippers. He was released after his 10-day contract expired. Later that season, Wafer signed with the Denver Nuggets. In 2008, he was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers.
