Much in the same way that Harmony Gold USA created Robotech by combining three separate Japanese anime series, World Events Productions took episodes of two anime and edited them into Voltron: Defender of the Universe. In order to be shown on television in the United States to a school-age audience and satisfy censors, scene featuring torture, death, violence, and funerals were excised. This resulted in Voltron: Defender of the Universe diverging considerably from GoLion and Dairugger XV as the series went on. -
