About
Kramnik defeated Garry Kasparov in 2000 to become the Classical World Chess Champion. This title was unified with the FIDE World Championship in 2006 after Kramnik defeated Veselin Topalov in a unification match. This victory made Kramnik the undisputed World Champion of chess. Kramnik lost the title to Viswanathan Anand in 2007, but a rematch for the championship is scheduled to take place in 2008.
