Latin Americans will compete to see who is America's number one telenovela star in the VH1 reality series Viva Hollywood. There will be twelve contestants in the competition. Similar in format to other reality shows, contestants will also live together and deal with issues with one another. Contestants will be judged based on the "7 Deadly Sins of Telenovelas" which includes: passion, drama, seduction, fire, lust, scandal, and charisma. They must show they can learn the basic fundamentals of the genre also. The winner will receive $100,000 and a part in an upcoming telenovela. The winner will also receive a contract with Telemundo.
A little background about telenovelas: A telenovela basically means soap opera but in a much shorter format. These mini-series are famous in Latin America. Compared to the traditional soap opera format, the telenovela is aired for a certain period possibly up to 120 episodes whereas traditional versions can go on with a story indefinitely. The network Telemundo is the only network in the United States which creates telenovelas.
