Vitor Meira is a Brazilian auto racing driver for the Indy Racing League. During the 2009 Indianapolis 500 Meira started to pull away from the pit with gasoline filler hose still attached to the car. The car burst into flames, but the fire was put out in under a minute by the pit crew. Meira re-entered the race, still on the lead lap. Later, on lap 173, Meira hit the wall in turn one, careening off on two wheels. The crash put him out of the race.
