Klitschko announced his retirement from boxing in 2005. He returned to the ring on October 11, 2008, and defeated Samuel Peter to regain the WBC Heavyweight championship. On November 3, 2008, both the Klitschko brothers challenged the WBA boxing champion Nikolai Valuev. Valuev owns the only heavyweight belt not held by one of the Klitschko brothers.
