Virginia has voted Republican since 1968, but polls indicate that Democrat Barack Obama is currently leading the presidential election in Virginia, which has 13 electoral votes. Polls are open in Virginia from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. George W. Bush won the state of Virginia with 54% of the votes in 2004.
Also in running for office are former Virginia governers Jim Gilmore and Mark Warner. Both men are running for the U.S. Senate seat formerly held by John Warner.
