Virgin America is based in San Francisco, California and is a low cost airline. When the airline launched its services in 2007, they had brand new airplanes along with discounted airfare. Along with the travel savings that they offer, they have many amenities that other airlines have yet to offer such as in-flight internet, mood-lighting in cabins, custom leather chairs, power outlets and a video touch-screen at every seat where the customers can choose their menu and entertainment.
Virgin America flies to the following destinations: San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Washington, Seattle, Las Vegas, San Diego, Boston, Fort Lauderdale. In June 2010 they will be adding flights to Toronto, Canada and late in 2010 Orlando will be added.http://www.virginamerica.com/va/aboutus.do?pageName=aboutusOverview

Controversy
The company first began arranging to fly out of San Francisco in 2004. Competitors tried to prevent Virgin America's launch by citing the Air Commerce Act of 1926, which prevents ownership of a United States airline by a non-citizen. In order to fly, Virgin America had to give up CEO Fred Reid, who was seen as too beholden to Richard Branson.
