A Peruvian women named Virgen Maria "Virgin Mary" Huarcaya gave birth to a 7.7 pound baby named Jesus Emanuel in Peru on December 25, 2008, Christmas Day. Her carpenter husband, Adolfo Jorge Huamani, was compared to Joseph, the father of Jesus Christ, by many religious Peruvians. Peru's most widely-read newspaper, El Comercio, ran a headline reading "Two thousand years later the story of Bethlehem is relived." The child's father told reporters that the couple had previously decided to name thieir child after a soccer star, but had changed their minds following the coincidental birth.
