Viprinex is an injectable drug derived from the venom of a Malayan pit viper. Viprinex acts as a defibrinogenating agent, and is being studied to treat inschemic stroke. While it is not yet approved by the Food and Drug Administration in the United States, the FDA has accelerated research on Viprinex as of January 2005. Researchers are aiming for Viprinex to be an option to stroke sufferers in the near future.
