  • History

The violin emerged in its definitive form between 1520 and 1550 in MIlan, Italy. In 1555, Andrea Amati constructed the first 4 stringed violin. His descendants established the famous violin making school in Cremona, Italy. Antonio Stradivari (1644-1737), a pupil of Nicolo Amati, established the final model used by all his successors.
