Vincent Lecavalier was born April 21, 1980 in Ile Bizard, Quebec. Lecavaleir went to Thorndale Elementary in Pierrefonds, Quebce before attending John Rennie High School in Pointe-Claire, Quebec for two years (1992–1993). He transferred to Athol Murray College of Notre Dame in Wilcox, Saskatchewan to further his hockey career, and completed high school there, scoring an amazing 104 points in his final season.
After leaving high school, Lecavalier played junior hockey for the Rimouski Océanic of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). He won the Michel Bergeron Trophy as the QMJHL's top rookie forward, scoring 103 points in 64 games. He followed that up in his second season with the Oceanic with 115 points in 58 games. He also added 41 points in 18 playoff games, leading the Oceanic all the way to the QMJHL finals.
NHL Career
Lecavalier was drafted first overall in the 1998 NHL draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning. He joined the Lightning for his NHL debut that same year and played all 82 regular season games with the team. In 2000, Lecavalier was named captain of the Lightning and helped the team win the Stanley Cup Championship in 2004. He played for the Ak Bars Kazan of the Russian Super League during the 2004-2005 NHL lockout. On June 25, 2008, Lecavalier signed a nine-year contract to stay with the Lightning.
