Story Line
Viking: Battle for Asgard is an action-adventure video game released on March 25, 2008 based on Norse Mythology. Gameplay features hack-and-slash, similar to previous Creative Assembly action games like Spartan: Total Warrior, but considerably more graphic and violent. Hel, daughter of Loki, the Norse god of mischief, has been banished from Asgard for defying Odin. As an act of retribution, she attempts to release Fenrir with her army of resurrected Viking warriors. According to legend, his release will trigger Ragnarok, an apocalyptic battle that will destroy Asgard and the gods. Freya is assigned to stop Hel and defend the future of mankind. To aid in her task, she selects Skarin, a great but troubled young warrior, as her champion. -
Gameplay
Explore the three islands in Midgard to find and rescue viking soldiers, who may then assist you in battle. Attack and capture castles. Once your mission is completed on each island, you must then take part in a siege or a great battle between large armies with hundreds of soldiers fighting to the death. Your enemies may be weakened by killing their shaman, or using various combat moves to kill the soldiers themselves. -
