Four San Jose police officers have been placed on leave following the arrest of Phung Ho, a Vietnamese student studying at San Jose University. The police department is reviewing whether excessive force was used during the arrest.http://www.mercurynews.com/ci_13639917?source=most_emailed

The police were called when Ho allegedly threatened a roommate, Jeremy Suftin, with a kitchen knife after the Suftin put soap on Ho's steak. Witnesses maintain that Ho was not armed when police arrived.http://www.mercurynews.com/ci_13639917?source=most_emailed

Vietnamese Student Beaten By San Jose Cops

This cell phone video shows Ho on the ground, crying and moaning while being hit with batons and tasered. Some experts who have reviewed the video say that it appears that Ho was struck at least 10 times, and that some of the strikes occurred after he had been handcuffed.

The video begins with the police subduing Ho, and doesn't show what happened before. Could anything justify this type of force?

I saw Vietnamese student in the caption of the video and assumed that this happened somewhere else in the world. I can't imagine an event that would justify type of brutality. I hope that being "placed on leave" is a precursor to going to jail for a long time.

Wow, can't believe that this happened in the USA. The cops acted like gangsters beat the crap out of the helpless kid lay crying on the floor. I hope this story won't be covered up and these cops should go to jail for it.

I assume it is a roommate videoing this? They are awfully calm while watching someone be beaten. I don't think anything justifies brutality or force after someone is subdued.

O-M-G Seriously??? What did they want the poor boy to do? Play dead??? He's doing nothing but pleading with them to stop and the just keep going at it! I'm upset by the fact that someone was recording it and that the roommate that made the call didn't even try to stop them from that brutality -- but without that video nobody would have believed anything but the police... this is just sad

I watched this video twice. Sounds like the audio changed a bit each time I watch. Also watched it on the ten o'clock news with Phung Ho's interview. Feel terrible for this student. Seem like these cops are triggered happy & may need anger management classes. However, without enhance video to remove the "blackness", can't be sure what's going on! Also what event or exchange of words lead to Phung Ho beating? Since the advent of the taser, students been zapped just for voicing their opinion at school sponsor guest state speaker program!
