Rivera's career was to be shortened by tragedy.  On Dec. 12, 2012, Rivera was killed in a plane crash in Northern Mexico.  Six others, including pilot, were killed when the small jet they traveled in lost control.  Rivera was buried on Dec. 31 in her hometown of Long Beach.
