  • Vetiver is a San Francisco-based indie-folk band led by singer-songwriter Andy Cabic, and featuring solo artist Devendra Banhart on guitar and backing vocals. Cabic is a close friend of Banhart, whom he met while attending the San Francisco Art Institute. Vetiver shares many of the same influences that have shaped the music of "freak-folkie" such as Banhart and Joanna Newsom—including Syd Barret and early T. Rex—but applies them with a more traditional folk rock approach. The band released its self-titled debut album in 2004 (produced by the Pernice Brothers' Thom Monahan), followed by 2006's To Find Me Gone. Vetiver's third LP is due for release in 2008.
