Vertigo is a type of dizziness where you have a feeling of a motion when you aren't moving. Vertigo can vary from moderate to severe and in some cases can cause nausea and vomiting. Although vertigo can occur at any age it is more common in the elderly.
Causes
When the balancing and position signals sent to the brain become conflicting this causes vertigo. Vertigo is usually caused by problems in the inner ear or central brain. An inner ear infection can cause vertigo. Meniere disease is also a cause vertigo. An injury to the ear on head can bring on vertigo. Vertigo is common with migraine headaches.
