Career
Reid first started playing jazz in his teens. In 1980 he joined his first jazz group, appearing on six albums. In 1983, Reid formed the group Living Colour, which was active until 1995. Two years after forming Living Colour, Reid helped form the Black Rock Coalition, which was an organization for black musicians that wanted to perform other kinds of music besides soul or rap.AOl Music: Vernon Reid Biography Reid released the song Mistaken Identity, his first solo, in 1996.
