Vashti Bunyan is an
English singer-songwriter and
folk musician, whose work in the late
1960s and early
1970s has had a profound influence on the
psych folk sub-genre. Bunyan's
1970 album
Just Another Diamond Day saw very little publicity upon its release, but over the decades has became an iconic work to a younger generation of singer-songwriters, including
Devendra Banhart and
Joanna Newsom. After releasing that album, Bunyan took a musical hiatus of over three decades, in order to raise her children in the
Scottish countryside. The album was re-released in the year 2000, and followed by a new album,
2005's critically lauded
Lookaftering, and a rarities collection,
Some Things Just Stick in Your Mind: Singles and Demos 1964-1967.
