Vanessa Marcil

Actress Vanessa Marcil rose to fame playing Brenda Barrett on the soap opera General Hospital. She won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress for the role in 2003. She acted for one and half seasons on the television series Beverly Hills 90210. Her role as Samantha Jane "Sam" Marquez on Las Vegas, which she has filled since 2003, is her most high profile to date.

Vanessa Marcil has traveled to Africa to volunteer in shelters for women suffering from AIDS. She volunteers her time and money to that cause as well as has helped with the organization Sojourn Services for Battered Women and Their Children. She received the Sojourn Service Award in 2001.
