Vanderbilt University is an institution of higher learning which is located in Nashville, Tennessee.
History
Vanderbilt University was founded in 1873. The college was named after Commodore Cornelius Vanderbilt, who was the original investor. For the first forty years in the college's history, the institution was operated by the Methodist Episcopal Church.
