Sound
Vampire Weekend have described their sound as "Upper West Side Soweto," influenced by both Western classical music and the contemporary popular music of Africa, so-called "Afro-Pop." Many of their song titles reference their African influences, including "Cape Code Kwassa Kwassa" (a nod to the popular Soukous style of the Congo). The African music blog "Benn loxo du taccu" was an early supporter of the band.
