"Covenant of the Plume could be considered a mature counterpart to Square Enix's Final Fantasy Tactics A2. This is a polished SRPG that stands out from the crowd thanks to some unique battle mechanics. The enemy AI feels a little lazy at times, but the game still provides a nice challenge."—IGNIGN: Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume Review (March 12, 2009)

"CotP is the worst game in the Valkyrie Profile series, but it is definitely my favorite SRPG on the DS. It's much darker and more interesting than Revenant Wings or FF Tactics A2, and generally a more satisfying game. That said, the unimpressive AI put a sour note on the experience... The less-than-stellar music does not help either. In spite of these flaws, CotP is hard to put down given the fun combat, refreshingly short playtime, and strong replay value..."—RPGFanRPGFan: Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume Review (January 20, 2009)

  • About the Game

In Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume, players take on the role of Wylfred, a young man seeking revenge on the Valkyrie Lenneth, who carried his father's soul to Valhalla. In his anger, Wylfred has begun to blur the line between good and evil. He befriends Hel, the queen of the underworld, who gives him a Valkyrie feather and the promise that, if he accumulates enough Sin, he will become powerful enough to defeat Lenneth. The goddess feather, when used in battle, will instantly bless one party member with god-like power. The price? At the end of battle, that party member will die permanently.

The player is presented with various diverging choices throughout the course of the game. There are four different endings, each with multiple possible paths to get there, as well as many characters to meet and interact with. Unlike the stereotypical RPG, Covenant of the Plume can be completed in 10 hours, and it's possible to see all the endings and characters in just under 30 hours.RPGFan: Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume Review (January 20, 2009) Official Site: Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume
